Tried these LinkedIn strategies at my previous gig. We were stunned by the rapid response rate from potential employers. It's not just about being seen, it's about standing out.
A great read! Well, here’s my humble perspective ont his suject - Most execs I work with still believe a strong CV and a few endorsements are enough. But as you’ve rightly shown, if LinkedIn doesn’t serve you up to recruiters, it’s like whispering into the void.
According to https://www.jobscan.co/blog/linkedin-keywords/, profiles with optimised keyword density are 45% more likely to appear in recruiter searches. Shocking how often this gets overlooked
Out of those 12 ranking factors, which one do you see most execs consistently getting wrong?
You're absolutely right - it's really all 12 of them that are overlooked, and that makes it very easy to dramatically increase your ranking. It happens quite frequently that when I optimize someone's profile, they go from spot thousand and beyond to the first 5 in the search results because most people make these mistakes.
That 45% statistic is a very old statistic, and my own research indicates that it's way way higher - 3-4 times more likely. Most executives think LinkedIn optimization is just about having impressive job titles and a few good recommendations, but they're missing the systematic approach that actually moves the needle.
The compound effect is what's so powerful here - when someone addresses all 12 factors together rather than just tweaking one or two, the results can be transformational. It's like the difference between tuning one instrument in an orchestra versus getting the whole ensemble in harmony.
Couldn’t agree more- plus the big mistake I see if people wasting keyword space in their headline repeating where they work e.g. CEO @ MyFirmLLP when the company name is just there to the right anyway
Honestly, this is one of best articles I've read on this topic so far. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Julia. I’m glad to hear that the thousands of hours I’ve spent reverse-engineering the algorithm are proving useful.
Such excellent advice, Kristof -- rooted in data and essential for any leader in a job search. Adding this to my must-read list for all clients!
Thanks Kathy! Very much appreciated
