For instance, my main career is as a Co-Executive Producer in television, which isn’t really a transferable title into marketing, advertising, consulting, etc… so how would you position an executive level in one industry into another?

In his book, What Color Is Your Parachute?, Richard Bolles outlines a 2-step process:
1) Find the same job you're doing now, in the new industry, or, find the new job you want in your current industry.
2) Find the new jo you want in the new industry, or, find the new job you have in the new industry you want.
